QMA Artist Database

QMA Artist Database is a collection of information about artists who have recently come to Vienna and have not yet established a sustained presence in Vienna’s art scene. The artists selected for this database have relocated to Vienna from the Global South or from the CESEE* region in the last few years. QMA Artist Database provides profiles of artists with well-established artistic practices beyond Austria who are reestablishing and expanding their careers from their new base in Vienna. It includes artists working across a range of artistic media and disciplines, including fine arts, media arts, performance, and interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary practices.

QMA Artist Database is a carefully curated and continuously updated tool for curators, gallerists, and cultural workers to expand their exploration of Vienna-based artists. The database intervenes by making otherwise less visible practices more accessible. This tool can advance towards a more accurate representation of Vienna’s rich and heterogeneous artistic fabric, and help challenge and reshape existing processes of access, inclusion, and exposure.
