Music Residency | QMA On Stage

QMA On Stage is an initiative that promotes musicians of all musical genres new to Vienna. To counteract structural barriers in the music industry, QMA On Stage promotes migrant and BIPoC artists and bands and connects them with the scene. It was initiated by Mwita Mataro in cooperation with QMA and takes place every year since 2020. In order to be considered for the program, an application is necessary.
QMA On Stage is a collective effort - together with Vienna-based musicians, producers, music industry professionals we support promising musicians and contribute to an Austrian music scene that is no longer male-centred and white-dominated. Let’s create it anew!

Music Residency | QMA On Stage 2026 | Application
For this year’s edition of QMA On Stage, the three winning artists will be invited for a residency at Fiakka Studios from Tuesday, Sept 15th to Saturday, Sept 19th 2026, where they each have a full studio at their disposal and can use all the equipment to work on new tracks. Additionally, established artists in the Viennese music scene will join for songwriting sessions, and mentors from the music industry will provide guidance and support. On top of that, several prizes will be awarded, including, e.g. photoshoots, microphones and more.
