Rozina Pátkai
Rozina Pátkai is a Hungarian sound and performance artist based in Vienna. Working with voice, text, soundscapes, analogue and digital technologies, her practice explores archives, visibility, motherhood, activist formats and freedom of expression. Trained in intermedia, performance art, electronic and jazz music, she creates participatory sonic formats between acoustic poetry, live electronics, installation and contemporary performance. She is a guest lecturer at the Hungarian University of Fine Arts, where she developed Creativity Exercises. Her work has been exhibited in Hungary, Austria, Italy, UK and New York. Invisible has been recognised by festivals in Paris, Istanbul, New York, Tokyo, Berlin, Beverly Hills, Kyoto and Rome. She has also received multiple Independent Music Awards.

My practice begins with the voice, not only as a musical instrument, but as a physical trace, a carrier of memory and a way of entering public space. My transdisciplinary practice moves across sound, performance, moving image and participatory installation, combining spoken and sung text with field recordings, live electronics, found materials, objects and interactive technologies. I transform experiences into forms through which larger social structures can become visible. Rather than illustrating a fixed political position, I approach these subjects poetically, allowing contradiction and ambiguity to remain. Each work begins with open-ended research, after which I choose the materials according to what the subject requires. Poetry is central not only as language, but as a way of thinking through sound, image, movement, objects and silence. I aim to create experiences that leave the viewer or listener with questions that continue beyond the work.
