Art Space Visit: Semmelweissklinik

  • Semmelweissklinik (Haus 4) 37 Hockegasse Wien, Wien, 1180 Austria (map)

In the framework of our series of talks with cultural workers from Vienna, we are aiming at making knowledge on the Viennese cultural sector accessible to all. We want to explore, how programs are created, what access points there are for artists and how inclusive they are.

For this event we are visiting the new art space Semmelweissklinik that is being co-run by one of the participants of the QM&A Artist Collective 2023, Frederik Marroquín. It offers space for workshops, studio spaces, seminar, rehearsal, and function rooms available for rent. Find out more about it here.

We will have a talk with Frederik to find out more about the space and what possibilties there are for other participants of the collective to get involved there. So this is especially interesting for you if you’re looking for studio spaces, spaces to organize events or a place to get to know more artists working in Vienna. After the talk with Frederik there will be a big gathering of many artists working there to which we are also invited. So let’s spend a nice afternoon together at Semmelweissklinik!

Frederik Marroquín is a visual artist, performer and co-founder of the Semmelweisklinik – centre for arts and culture in Vienna. His choreographic sculptures are both performances and installations. He investigates the extent to which built and social spaces condition and shape movements. The transition between everyday life and artistic exploration is fluid. He uses the limitations and resistances of his own body as material on an equal level with object and drawing.
