Lecture Performance and Artistic Dialogue

The history of political protests in Iran is a cycle of hope and despair, each following the other along a troubled timeline. It forms a landscape like a mountain range: we fall, we rise, and fall again. This lecture performance by Sara Karimi is a walk through these mountains. It portrays fragments of that uneven terrain of resistance through live drawing, personal narratives, and archival materials. Following a protester as they climb the mountain of hope, the work imagines possible endings to their story.
In the second part, Karimi enters in dialogue with Huda Takriti on how the geographical and political context of the viewer shapes the perception of artworks. The conversation reflects on retelling histories of resistance, the space between fact and fiction, and the politics of witnessing.
